Surfing Testimonials

I can't recommend Ed enough!  I took a private lesson with him this summer and was up on the wave the first go!  I'm hooked!!  And, it didn't stop there. I knew I was in good hands when everyone in the water seemed to love Ed and no wonder, Ed's a part of Santa Cruz like the water and the sun.  It's not just learning to surf but becoming part of a community of awesome people. I've been to his camps and have brought clients to him (who are also hooked now).  He's introduced me to people who I know will be life long friends.  He and his instructors are all world class, no matter who you sign up with (Ed, Heath, Taylor, Tyler, Sky, Rafael, Dave, Ken, Spike, Sonja, Holly... they are all soooo nice and amazing teachers).  Club Ed teaches you etiquette, safety, skill and most of all just to have FUN!!!  If you want to learn to surf, or if you are looking for expert instruction from a person who has been surfing for years, definitely give Ed a call.

We went to Club Ed through a group trip arranged by SJSU.  Their set up is on Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz, to the right of the wharf and in front of the West Coast Santa Cruz Hotel.  The people were all very laid back and friendly.  We had 4 or 5 instructors for our large group and they were all very active, going around and helping everyone catch waves.  I was able to successfully stand up 7 out of 9 times which shows how good the instructors were.  They provided nice, soft beginner boards, wetsuits and booties and all of the equipment was in good condition.  I would definitley go back to them if I wanted to get another lesson or just to get rental equipment.  The staff was great and the entire group had an awesome time!

Just had another great day surfing with Club Ed in Santa Cruz.  We were a group of six - some returning, some new, some visiting from the east coast.  This is my 3rd outing in the last 1.5 years and all have been so enjoyable, well-executed and we all learned to surf - and to surf better each time. This is a great group of instructors that Ed has orchestrated. I highly recommend them to everyone - a great activity to do with visiting friends & family at any level or ability - no pressure!  ALSO I highly recommend the Summer Camps - my son, neighbors & friends have been several summers and look forward to returning :)  Nice family, nice people, nice experience.

Two friends and I took a group lesson with Club Ed this weekend, and we all had a great time!  Our instructors were Mike, Raphael, and Taylor (and a fourth that joined later whom I did not get the name of).  I am very impressed with all four of them.  They were incredibly patient, professional, and encouraging.  They were also genuinely attentive to each individual in the class, giving everybody tips & skills for conquering standing up on the board.  And even more important, their friendliness made the experience super FUN!

Taylor was *especially* friendly, enthusiastic, and encouraging.  A couple of us were having a hard time getting up on that board, so at one point he offered to surf alongside and help "pull" us up into position onto the board, and after he did so with me, I was able to stand up myself!  He was an exceptional coach, all along the way psyching us up to keep trying. He seemed to truly want everybody to succeed.

Club Ed is definitely fantastic and fun for newbies, and we'll be signing up for another lesson.

I called Club Ed International Surf School and had the pleasure of chatting with Ed firsthand. He assured me that he was going to blow my mind when we got out there and it was nothing short of one of the best experiences of my vacation in Santa cruz! I took a private lesson with Ed on the first day which I would highly recommend as the one to one tutorial not only gets you engrossed in learning about the basics of surfing and a yoga stretching on the beach before getting out in the water. Cowell's Beach is a perfect spot for beginners to intermediates and Ed provides you with the instruction, encouragement and enthusiasm to get into the groove and find your sweet spot! I had such an awesome day on day one that I took a semi-private lesson on day two!

I work a very high paced and at times stressful job and hanging out with Ed for two days was the bomb! He is a very gifted teacher and not only do you learn the technical terms of wave formation, riding, and hanging 10, more importantly you are able to feel like you can ride a wave and get hooked easier than one may imagine!

Sure, you could save $10 bucks and go with another surf store in Santa Cruz, but go with someone who has been doing this since he was 12 and is inspiring, funny, and a all around great guy! You won't be disappointed and he will even take some photo's for you to take home as lasting memories. Let Ed rock your world and you will not be disappointed. He's a real gem! Bring along some friends as he can do one to one teaching or is equally effective with a group! He will make sure that everyone can catch a wave and feel the sweet spot! Thanks Ed for all the memories. You won't be disappointed and you will be amazed at how well you will do with Ed's teachings and encouragement! You will hear his words of wisdom days later as some of his pearls of wisdom are applicable beyond the surfing world: in the bigger ocean called life!!!

I live near the ocean in Gloucester, MA and now look at the sea differently as I am looking for where the waves are forming and crashing!
